About both charities
Countess of Chester Hospital (Charity Reg 1050015)
The Countess Charity is probably best known in the community for the Babygrow Appeal at The Countess of Chester Hospital. The team works with the local community, corporates and grant making trusts to raise money for over 80 different funds across the hospital – each one making a real difference to patient care. The Countess Charity exists not to fund patient care, but to enhance and improve it by providing grants for projects that our clinical colleagues have identified and that are over and above those provided by core NHS funding. Your generous support will enable us to ensure that we continue to provide the very best facilities for future patients at our hospital.
Recent improvements include:
- New patient chairs for the Stroke Unit
- A new television for patients at Ellesmere Port Hospital
- Refurbishment of the Children Theatre Recovery Area
- A portable Cardiac Scanner
- New sofas for parents in the Neonatal Unit
With your help we can make a real difference to patient care.
Hospice of the Good Shepherd (Charity Reg 515516)
The Hospice of the Good Shepherd is a respected provider of palliative care for residents of Cheshire West and Chester and Deeside. We provide services free of charge to patients and families facing life limiting illnesses. We provide an in-patient unit, out-patient services, a day therapy centre and offer complimentary therapies and bereavement support throughout the community. Our dedicated team of staff and healthcare professionals are available to help patients, friends, families and carers through difficult and painful times and provide practical, emotional, social and spiritual support. We rely on the generosity of our local communities to fund the crucial work of the Hospice. Less than a third of our £4 million annual running costs come from government funding. The remainder is generated through fundraising, donations, events and corporate partnerships.
